DIVEMASTER
Do you like diving? Do you want to share scuba diving with others on a whole new level? Register for the PADI Divemaster course and transform into a profession what you love to do. Divers refer to divemasters because they are the leaders who advise and motivate others. As a divemaster, you not only do so many dives but, during diving, you also experience the joy of seeing others enjoy themselves as much as you do.
The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you will refine your diving skills - for example, hovering effortlessly - and rescue skills, so you can anticipate and solve common problems easily. You will acquire theoretical knowledge about diving and management and supervision skills, so as to become a role model for any diver.
As a PADI Divemaster, as you will supervise diving activities and act as an assistant in the courses, you will take the lead role. Whether you want to work in a distant diving destination or in a local diving center near your home, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you. PADI Divemasters are respected professionals who are part of the largest and most respected diving organization in the world - PADI.
PADI Rescue Divers who are at least 18 years old can register for the PADI Divemaster course. You will also need:
• Completed an Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (RCP and First Aid) in the previous 24 months.
• Being in possession of a medical certificate with authorization signed by a doctor in the previous 12 months.
• Have registered at least 40 dives to start the course, and at least 60 to get the certification.
Note that patents from other organizations may be valid - ask your PADI Instructor for information.
The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take responsibility for underwater activities. Through theoretical development sessions, water exercises, workshops and practical assessments, you will develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of underwater activities. Topics and workshops include:
• The role and characteristics of a PADI Divemaster
• Supervise underwater activities and assist stubied students
• The safety of the diver and risk management
• Programs conducted by a Divemaster and specialized skills
• The diving business and your career
• Awareness of the aquatic environment
• Preparation and management of a dive
• Mapping of a free water site
• Conduct dive briefings
• Organize a research and recovery project and a deep dive
• Conduct a scuba review and a skin diver course
• Assist in Discover Scuba Diving and guide Discover Local Diving programs
Your instructor, along with the Divemaster training and in order to help you meet all the requirements and expand your skills, could also offer you PADI specialty courses.
