Offshore Sailing
course 5: Super Cruising

 

Objective: to acquire autonomy and safety in offshore navigation.

Who it is for: adults who have attended the cruise course or have acquired similar ones

skills.


Boat: cabin cruiser

Place: boarding in Caorle, Veneto, Italy and navigation in the upper Adriatic (Slovenia and Croatia included).

 Duration: 5 days


Cost: € 600.00 including membership fee and insurance

Topics: use of a cruise rig complete with mainsail, genoa, gennaker, planning of a medium-range navigation, landing in unknown places, elements of coastal navigation, use of the nautical chart, use of the electronic instrumentation on board, bureaucracy, anchorage in harbor, logbook, emergency management.

How: theory, analysis of the weather situation to plan the route, objectives and exercises of the week, safety briefing.
We live on board for 5 days learning to sail on the high seas, to prepare meals, to alternate in rest shifts, to plan routes evaluating weather conditions and other needs (e.g. water or fuel or galley refueling), manage emergencies and use on-board tools. Each student has the opportunity to cover all roles: from the helm to the bow.
During the navigation exercises aimed at consolidating the objectives of the course will be carried out.
The course ends with a final de-briefing.
The galley is organized by the instructor and everyone is required to participate in preparing meals and cleaning the boat.


The costs of: fuel, galley, port, Croatian tourist taxes are excluded and will be divided equally among the students.
For the overnight stay on board will be provided a sheet and a towel per person.
Sleeping bags are recommended.

Clothing: sneakers with white (or in any case clear) soles, comfortable and suitable clothing for the season, full wax (if possible) or windproof jacket, sunglasses. Each student is allowed to bring only a soft bag of limited size and weight on board.
